Member Spotlight: Sarah and Terry G.
 

1.   How did you guys hear about SPENGA?

 

a.    Sarah: We both used to work out at another type of fitness studio in the area.  I heard about Spenga opening through Cherie.  I looked it up and knew it would be a better fit. I signed up as a member before Spenga officially even opened. I convinced Terry to try out one class and he was hooked!

 

2.   Has exercise always been part of your life? 

 

a.    Terry - I loved sports growing up and played them year
round. I trained for marathons and triathlons to stay in shape in my 30’s, but it was a time commitment. I like Spenga because it keeps me active without the wear and tear on my body.  Plus, I still have time to play golf.

 

3.   What keeps you motivated?

a.    We are both motivated by wanting to be healthy for each
other and our kids. We are both in our mid 40’s and need to
stay young to keep up with our two year old J

 

4.   What is your favorite exercise or workout? 

 

a.    Sarah - Right now, my favorite exercise is taking our youngest out for a long stroller walk. We have miles and miles on the stroller and have the best time talking about everything we see. She won’t sit in the stroller much longer ,so I’m enjoying every walk we take. 

 

b.    Terry - My favorite thing to do is get outside and ride my bike.

 

5.   How many times a week do you WERKOUT with SPENGA? 

 

a.   Sarah - 4 or 5 days a week (3 with Terry!) 

 

b.   Terry - 3 days a week

 

6.   Where are you from and where do you currently live? 

 

a.   We both grew up in Indiana. Terry in Noblesville and Sarah
in Indianapolis. We met at IU and live in Carmel with our 3 kids and dog.

 

7.   What inspires you? 

 

a.    Sarah: The feeling of kindness, encouragement and community at the Spenga studio inspires me to continue to keep challenging myself in my workout. I finally found a
place that fits me!

 

b.    Terry:  I’m inspired by the You vs You mentality of setting
personal goals and trying to constantly improve.

 

8.   What is your favorite part of SPENGA?  

 

a.   Sarah: I love the format and the people. I am constantly challenged by the workout while also listening to constant encouragement and positive messages. Right when you want to give up the instructor is telling you that you can do it.

 

b.   Terry: I like the range of intensity from spin and strength floor to then ending it all my laying on the floor in a final relaxation pose.

 

9.   Where is your favorite place to go out for a date? 

 

a.    With two busy seventeen year-olds and a toddler at home, our
favorite date spot is Spenga! Due to schedule changes, we have now changed our 5:30 PM Friday night for 6:30 AM Wednesday and Friday mornings. We exchanged after workout drinks for coffee, but we enjoy our time together without kids doing something we both enjoy! We still have Sunday morning in the mix, so we get plenty of unconventional dates.
