banner-memberHow did you hear about SPENGA?

I knew Cherie and heard she was opening a studio.

Has exercise always been part of your life?

Exercise used to be a major part of my life. I was an athlete in high school and college. I love to hike and golf. But after an accident and multiple surgeries, I forgot what it was like to exercise on a regular basis. It took Cherie to reassure me that indeed I could do this workout. I’m hooked!

What keeps you motivated?

The instructors are awesome and so encouraging. It also motivates me when I see older friends that live healthy lifestyles. They are able to be active as they age.  There is book at my Chiropractors office called Cruise Ship or Nursing Home. To some degree, everyone has a choice what their life will look like as they age.

What is your favorite exercise or workout?

I like all three parts of the workout. I didn’t think I would like spinning, but it has grown on me. Because of surgeries, my body was(is) really out of balance with some muscles strong and others very weak with a lot of substitution patterns. I like the variety on the strength floor. I also like the yoga. Slowly but surely I’m making baby steps of progress.

How many times a week do you WERKOUT with SPENGA?

3, I’m not yet to a point I can do consecutive days. My old beat-up body has to recover.

Where are you from and where do you currently live?

As a small child, I lived north of Chicago in Grayslake Illinois, moved to Tipton Indiana in 3rd grade. I’ve lived in Carmel for the past 22 years.

What inspires you?

So many things inspire me. Friends, positive people, people that work hard, people that build others up. My faith in an amazing God.

What is your favorite part of SPENGA?

I love the people. I love that I get 1 hour just for me without getting pulled 15 directions by everyone needing something.

Where is your favorite place to go out for drinks/meal/meet friends out? (or you can tell us another local favorite...like favorite place for coffee, favorite park, pizza, favorite activity to do on the weekend etc)

For me, who I am with is more important than where we go. But with that said, I love the Italian House in Westfield, 10 West in Cicero, Peace Water Winery, Prime 47, and for coffee Cafe Buondi
