SPENGA CREW Spotlight: Laura M.
A mother of two athletic boys, a sibling of college athletes and a daughter of parents who lead active lifestyles, it is only natural that fitness is a big part of Laura’s life. Laura grew up in the buckeye state where she played Junior Olympic volleyball and several other travel sports throughout her youth. After high school, she attended Ball State University where she pursued a degree in education. Currently she is a teacher at Westfield-Washington Schools and teaches first grade where she especially loves teaching early literacy skills to her students. She says that seeing them grow and view themselves as young readers is especially rewarding. When she is away from the classroom you will see her on the sidelines cheering her boys on at their sporting events, playing volleyball, hanging out with friends, or traveling to Ohio to visit family.
Last summer, Laura sought out a goal to become a fitness instructor. WIth the help of Cherie, all the other coaches, and support from her women’s group at church, she was able to fulfill her dream of becoming an instructor at SPENGA Carmel. Laura has had three sports-related injuries in the past.. She loves SPENGA because of the low-impact, yet effective workouts that are provided. She craves the incredibly positive community that is part of the culture that has been established and is excited to be a part of the SPENGA family.
